Introduce Yourself Here it is, our all purpose introductions thread. Let us know who you are, and other stuff like where you're from, your cat's name (we can't promise we'll care) and in which direction your reading tastes run. We'll only mock you if it's got Fabio on the cover, and even then we mock with love.

My name is Sooze. I'm a Sagittarius and enjoy pina coladas and getting caught in the rain...
Seriously, I'm an author, mum, general all-round good guy and avid reader. I love classics, historical fiction, chick lit, drama, humour, detective stories, and general fiction. Basically, I read just about anything. I usually have a couple of different books going at any given time so that I can just pick up whatever I'm in the mood for.
Can't wait to get into some book chat with others (I've already heard all Mif's opinions on things and am looking forward to some variety).
By the way, I'm not actually a Sagittarious. but it somehow seems more exotic than the other star signs. Why is that?

Bibliomaniac on the loose Bibliomania - An exaggerated preoccupation with the acquisition and ownership of books
I have the pleasure of having over 5000 books in my garage and a couple of thousand in my house and the extreme joy of running my own new and second hand online book shop - The Dusty Jacket.
Oh yeah - must not forget the family - 4 kids, hubby and I am also studying for a Bach in Applied Social Science.
I read anything except Mills & Boons and Science Fiction/Fantasy. If I don't have anything to read I break into a sweat - and like alot of other bibliophiles I have several on the go at one time depending on the mood that I am in (and how much study I have to do).
Well that is my in a small box!
Look forward to being part of this group and knowing I am not the only book lover out there!

Welcome! I must come and visit your garage one day. Mine is just full of boxes and junk.
Sooze- 05-25-2007
We could have a field trip to that wonderful sounding garage, although you might have trouble getting us to leave!
Welcome.
Gill- 06-03-2007
Well I am Gill. Love to read and reread and reread books. Cant bear to give any away once I have read them (except the really bad ones - and those I don't finish, life is too short)
As a side note I would like to question the tag under my name Book Chatters first Bath book??? Surely I am more worthy than that. :P
Sooze- 06-03-2007
Mif is in charge of the tags, you'll have the take the issue up with her. Of course, maybe it is just her way of getting you to post more frequently so that you can upgrade from the 'bathbook' stigma.
I hate to get rid of books too. Once I have them they are mine, all mine!!! I have decided, however, that when we move I want to have my books out where I can get them, instead of in boxes hidden away under the bed. So, this might mean that I have to get rid of some books that I know I will never read again to make room for all those other books that need to see the light of day once more.
Tough decisions to come.
I should add a hearty WELCOME GILL to our forums. Always happy to meet another reader.
Mif- 06-03-2007

Gill- 06-03-2007
Goodness me look at my ranking now :D
Mif- 06-03-2007
Keep posting, and you'll get better rankings :) One day you might even get grown up books :)

I dont' have a cat but I have many other boring personality traits such as i'm not very adventurous and enjoy reading to live out my fantasies and adventures. I even have a (perceived) boring occupation as an insurance adviser!
I love all kinds of books and Pride and Prejudice is my favourite (boring and unoriginal I know).
I'm not an author but would love to write one day even for pleasure.
I'm a Libra and my name is Shannon...
Sooze- 06-05-2007
Hi Shannon,
Pride and Prejudice is a good choice for favourite.
What kind of writing would you like to try? Travel, adventure, fiction? It's a great hobby - doesn't cost much and can be done anywhere, anytime.
I'm looking forward to hearing about what you have been reading.
dontriskit- 06-06-2007
Hi Sooze
Well I want to write at least one novel but up until recently I didn't have any interesting life experiences to draw on. I now have heaps of inspiration!
I also want to write some self-help books for women and young people about financial management but still trying to think of an appealing angle.
I recently read Jane Austen Book Club. I didn't mind it. It had some interesting characters.
Mif- 06-06-2007
Welcome Shannon. I like your username, although for a second there I thought it was Don Triskit, and thought "I don't remember him from The Godfather". Much more appropriate for an insurance adviser.
Getting the right angle is the trick isn't it? Sooze is the "ideas man" in our writing partnership.
