Jack Spratt series - Jasper Fforde
I read the first book in this series (the Big Over Easy) recently. A crime book where the intrepid detective is trying to solve the myster of Humpty Dumpty's death - was he pushed, was it suicide or simply a tragic accident caused by his agitated and rather intoxicated state? The nursery rhyme references are great. Lots of fun. Maybe not quite as grippng as the Thursday Next books, but I still really enjoyed it.
