Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian - Marina Lewycka I quite liked this. An easy read by the complexity of the family relationships made it a little bit more than just a throw away 'chick lit' offering.
The elderly widowed father marries a Ukrainian woman more than half his age to 'release' her from the difficulties of her life in the Ukraine. His two daughters (older than his new wife) are both aghast.
The conniving new young wife, the strained relationship between the sisters, the depth of the impact of the memories that each member of the family carries from their flight from the Ukraine, the frailty of the old man - all these factors make this an enjoyable book but also a thought provoking one.
