The Forsythe Saga - John Galsworthy I tuned in by accident to the last 30 minutes of the last part of The Forsythe Saga mini-series the other night (yes, once again showing my impeccable sense of timing :D )
I read these books (or is it just one big book with 3 sections?) a few years ago. I really enjoyed the story and really disliked the central character of Soames Forsythe. I find I now can't watch the actor who played him in the mini-series without him annoying me greatly.
I did find that my attention wandered towards the end of the Saga. I can't clearly remember what happens with Irene (Soames' ex-wife) and Fleur (his daughter from his second marriage who was secretly in love with Irene's son). The fact that I can't remember probably says more about my short attention span than the writing.
A really interesting study of the importance of appearance and social standing in contrast to genuine emotion and sincerity in England in the late 1800s.
